Iranian Farzad Bonyadi is a WSOP bracelet holder
The best professional poker players really come from various parts of the world. Well, if there are several professional poker players from the United States and Great Britain, there are also professional poker players from Iran. One of them is Farzad Bonyadi.
Born in Piranshahr, Iran in 1959, Farzad Bonyadi is an Iranian Kurdish who now resides in Aliso Viejo, California. It is hard not to recognize this professional poker player because he has already earned three bracelets of the World Series of Poker.
Farzad Bonyadi's interest in poker started when he moved to the United States in 1983. His relocation gave him the opportunity to work for such casinos as the Los Angeles Commerce Casino and the Hollywood Park Casino, not as a poker player but as an executive host and a shift manager, respectively.
Working in casinos allowed him to learn how to play poker. In 1998, he tasted victory when he won the US$2,000 Limit Hold'em event conducted by the World Series of Poker. This was the event where he earned his first World Series of Poker bracelet. Not only that, this was also the event where Farzad Bonyadi defeated professional poker players Miami John Cernuto and Mimi Tran. He also participated successfully in the tournament's US$10,000 No Limit Hold'em main event and the US$1,500 seven-card stud split event.
The success of Farzad Bonyadi includes making it to the final table of the second season of the World Poker Tour. Placing fifth was only part of the perks. Another perk was being able to play against professional poker players Phil "The Unabomber" Laak, Chip Jett, T. J. Cloutier, Paul Phillips, and Mel "Silver Fox" Judah.
His success continued in 2004 and 2005 as Farzad Bonyadi earned two more World Series of Poker bracelets. In 2004, this professional poker player won in the US$1,000 Deuce to Seven Triple Draw event, and in 2005, he won in the US$2,500 No Limit Hold'em event. In the said games, he took home US$86,980 and US$594,960, respectively.
Farzad Bonyadi also succeeded in joining the Los Angeles Poker Classic event in 2006 wherein he finished fourth. This professional poker player also placed twentieth in the Bay 101 Shooting Star tournament held in the same year, wherein he took home a total of US$65,000.
Farzad Bonyadi is not only known for playing live poker tournaments. This professional poker player also participates exclusively in the online poker cardroom called Full Tilt Poker.
