World Poker Tour Texas Holdem Tournaments: The Five Diamond World Poker Classic

Known as an annual featured event, the Five Diamond World Poker Classic is a highly anticipated Texas Holdem tournament. It is a vital part of the World Poker Tour's roster of carefully selected events which aim to showcase the best poker competitions all over the world. Throughout the years, this major tournament continues to provide steady results for the tour.

Held at the very beautiful Bellagio Las Vegas in Nevada, this Texas Holdem tournament opened the first season of the World Poker Tour. It gave the tour a good starting point towards success. Since then, this poker spectacle has progressed to become one of the main pillars of the game. Almost all poker stars are dreaming to be part of the tour's wide selection of exciting and prestigious Texas Holdem tournaments.

In the initial season of the tour, a total of six players reached the final table of the Five Diamond World Poker Classic. John Juanda, Scotty Nguyen, and Kassem Deeb were among the top contenders. Gus Hansen, John Hennigan and Chis Bigler completed the final cast. In the end, it proved that only the best will survive as Hansen dismantled Juanda's hand in the final round.

The following year, the Bellagio tournament proved to be another thriller. The event saw an almost entirely new cast with the exception of defending champion Hansen. Paul Phillips, Mel Judah, and Abe Mosseri were among the top finishers. Dewey Tomko, Hansen, and Tino Lechich filled the remaining slots of the final table. This time it was Phillips who dominated the tournament by outlasting Tomko in the finale.

The third season proved to be another thrilling Texas Holdem finish as a new set of younger and talented competitors were able to reach the deciding table of the Five Diamond World Poker Classic. Vinny Landrum, Nam Le, and Humberto Brenes all survived the grueling preliminary rounds. The same goes for fellow finalists Daniel Negreanu, Steve Rassi, and Jennifer Harman. Employing his superior and more efficient strategies, Negreanu bested Brenes in the final round to bag the million-dollar pot.

In the fourth season of the World Poker Tour, the tournament featured a higher grand prize. Phil Laak, Patrik Antonius, and Doyle Brunson led the players who were all vying for the championship. Rehne Pedersen, Darrell Dicken, and J. J. Liu were outstanding candidates as well. In the final moments, Pedersen crushed his opponents' hands with stronger card combinations for the $2 million-pot.

With a total prize pool of over $8 million, the Five Diamond World Poker Classic was dubbed as the best tournament for the fifth season of the World Poker Tour. The final table was star-studded with the likes of Jim Hanna, Ed Jordan, and Mads Anderson. David Redlin, Joe Hachem, and Daniel Negreanu gave the world one of the most excellent finish in Texas Holdem tournament history. Hachem won the thrilling final table event.
